WELL-FIT Sunny Winter Hike

This time of year always feels like a struggle to get through! We’re in the winter doldrums! More days are cloudy than sunny it seems, and even when it is sunny, it’s cold! But, we don’t let that stop us! We get out there and soak in that sun! That plus the fresh air makes a world of difference for my well-being! Sunshine is good for your health! You’ve probably heard sunlight provides Vitamin D but it also increases serotonin and melatonin! Serotonin boosts our mood and melatonin helps regulate sleep! This great graphic came from Top10homeremedies.com. Sunshine is healthy but I always wear sunscreen; my morning routine includes my face being slathered with spf 50.

So sunshine is good for you and a brief cure for cabin fever. We had plenty of it today! We bundled up and drove over to Vernon NJ to the boardwalk hike.

We followed the Appalachian Trail crossing a few bridges and climbing some small hills. Nothing incredibly challenging but enough to keep us warm in the cold! It was muddy rather than snowy.

Sneaks wanted to keep going and keep going! He always loves hiking once we’re out there!

Every bridge we went over, Sneaks was looking for snakes!

With Kali in the backpack carrier, bundled up, and obviously on my back, it keeps both of us warm! And it gives me a nice workout!

Eventually she wanted out to walk!
