This one is a favorite! Every time I’ve ever brought this appetizer to a party, or set it out before dinner, it is gobbled up fast! And I’m then told by many how delicious it was! It’s a simple recipe that has the indulgent flavor of bacon but not as over-indulgent as having meatballs as an appetizer! With this, you get some vegetables and nutrition from the brussels sprouts, and by using a great, very complementive flavor-pairing mustard, you’re adding some health benefits to your dish!
I made these and can barely set them out, make them look nice for a decent pic before I get hands going in and grabbing bites!!
To begin, you’ve got your healthy brussels sprouts!
I like to cut them in half to make for easier edible bites.
Wrap each in a great bacon! No preservatives, no nitrates, no nitrites added.
Arrange them on a baking sheet and sprinkle with sea salt and ground pepper. No olive oil needed as the bacon will do the job there!
You can wrap all of them or place some brussels sprouts without onto the sheet as well for those who may not want the bacon. The roasted brussels sprouts dipped in the mustard is a great treat just as well!
Roast in oven at 385F for about 45 – 50 minutes. I have tried 400F for less time, 30 minutes, but I find the bacon is done, the brussels sprouts are not. So you can gauge your oven timing and sneak a taster to make sure! Serve with a great mustard, a horseradish mustard or a whole grain mustard seed dijon is perfect!
The mustard for dipping keeps this appetizer full of nutrients!
Bring this as a hostess offering or set it out as guests arrive and you’ll be not only a nutritiously well-fed holiday champ, you’ll also be so thanked and appreciated!
